Area Woman Shoots Romantic Rival: Police

Shooting occurred after what Wixom police called a dispute over "a common dating interest."

A West Bloomfield woman is in jail after allegedly shooting another woman in what police described as a dispute involving “a common dating interest.”

The shooting occurred Sunday in the parking lot of the Village Apartments on Tamarack Drive in Wixom, the Detroit Free Press reports.

Dana Ashley Burton, 21, was arraigned in Novi District Court on one count of attempted murder and one count of using a firearm in the commission of a felony.

The other woman, who Wixom Police Lt. Ronald Moore said is in her early 20s, is in stable condition at an area hospital. She is expected to be released in the coming day.s

Burton is being held in the Oakland County Jail on $500,000 bond. Her next court date is Nov. 18 in Novi District Court.
