BHSD Sets Goals For The Year; Changes Meeting Format

Members of the public will now address the school board following Superintendent Rob Glass' update.

The Bloomfield Hills Schools Board of Education laid out six goals for the year at their first meeting of the school year Thursday.

They also changed the general meeting format to allow Superintendent Rob Glass' report to go before public comment. This will give residents the chance to hear his comments earlier during the regular meetings, which often run past 9 or even 10 p.m. In the past, his report was typically given after both new and old business was discussed. District Spokeswoman Betsy Erikson Brown said the change is permanent.

  1. Support Superintendent Rob Glass' execution of the mission and vision statements, core values and strategic plan adopted by the district.
  2. Preserve and enhance the breadth and depth of curriculum and authentic assessment district-wide.
  3. Proactive fiscal management.
  4. Clarify the high school consolidation plan and educate the public.
  5. Serve as ambassadors to the community.
  6. Make the rationale for decisions and the discussions visible to the public.
