Bloomfield Comerica Bank Branches to Help Give Students Back to School Tools

Operation: Kid Equip underway until Aug. 19 at all branches.

Four Comerica Bank branches located in the Bloomfield area will be collecting school supplies for children until Aug. 19 as part of a large-scale collaboration with Operation: Kid Equip.

The bank and non-profit organization based in Michigan are trying to get basic school supplies into the hands of children that otherwise wouldn't have them without great sacrifice. A school supply donation box is located at any of Comerica's banking center lobbies, and all new items collected will be delivered to select schools in the communities that the company serves.

“Kids can’t write without a pencil or color without a crayon,” said Menachem Kniespeck, founder & CEO of Operation: Kid Equip, in a news release. “We’re happy Comerica has joined in our effort to address this important need in our communities.”

  • Pencils
  • Pens
  • Markers (washable)
  • Scissors (blunt-tip)
  • Rulers
  • Glue Sticks
  • Spiral Notebooks
  • Copy Paper
  • Erasers
  • Backpacks

Operation: Kid Equip will follow up the supply drive with a "Backpackpalooza Detroit" event on Aug. 27, during which the first 1,000 kids who qualify will receive a free backpack filled with school supplies, hygiene products and a piggy bank.
