Bloomfield Hills Black Hawks Beat Troy Colts in Overtime

The Bloomfield Hills Black Hawks defeated the Troy Colts 3-2 in an exciting overtime finish in a game played Thursday at the Detroit Skating Club. Black Hawk Goalie Junior Trey Atkinson stood on his head in the third period turning away 19 shots to set the Hawks up for the win. The Black Hawks opened the scoring in the first period with an unassisted goal from Banks Burkhart at the 6:38 mark.  Troy tied the game in the second period on a goal from Andrew Peters at 2:21.  The assists went to Jake Howard and Bob Urban.  The Colts then took the lead at the 12:55 mark of the second period on a goal from Jordan Sowerby with assists to Pearce Baker, and Lawrence Row.  In the third period, the Hawks tied the game with a goal scored by Cooper Myers at the 9:59 mark.  The assists on the goal went to Zack Orlandoni and Zack Raider.  Regulation ended in a 2-2 tie.  In overtime it was the Junior Captain Johnny Artemenko with the big game winner with just :18 seconds left in overtime.  The assist on the game winner went to Jordan Stone.  After the game Black Hawks Head Coach Bruce McAlister commented on the game turned in by Trey Atkinson.  “Trey played out of his mind tonight and kept us in a tough game particularly in the third period and into overtime.  In addition to Trey’s strong play, I was very pleased to see aggressive play from a couple of our young guys, Houston Peach and Dominic Cappello.”  “Tonight was a great OT victory against a very tough league rival” McAlister said.  The Troy Colts had 44 shots on goal while the Black Hawks had 19.  The Black Hawks will play again on Saturday February 15 against Troy Athens Red Hawks at the Troy Sports Center. Game time is 7:15
