Bloomfield Hills Black Hawks Lose to Utica 7-5

The Bloomfield Hills Black Hawks were defeated by the Utica Chieftains on Saturday by a score of 7-5 in a game played at the Detroit Skating Club.  Playing their second of two back to back games, the Black Hawks came up short.  Immediately following the game a visibly frustrated Black Hawk Head Coach Bruce McAlister said “the penalties killed us tonight.  Our boys need to learn we can’t win games from the penalty box.” The Chieftains scored 5 of their 7 goals while the Black Hawks were shorthanded.

The Black Hawks opened the scoring early in the 1st at the 2:45 mark with a goal from Banks Burkhart with assists to Connor Holman and Zack Raider.  Utica tied the game at 6:04 in the first with a goal from Alec George with an assist to Jacob Maddox. Utica took the lead at 11:31 of the first with a goal from Kyle Allard and assists to Alec George and Jacob Maddox.  The Black Hawks tied the game at 13:16 with a tally from Johnny Artemenko with assists to Jordan Stone and Ari Sternberg.  The Black Hawks took the lead again at :50 of the second period on a goal from Johnny Artemenko, his second of the night and an assist to Sasha Black.  The next 4 goals were scored by Utica.  Trevor George scored at 6:17 with an assist to Evan Gizinski.  It was George and Gizinski again at 7:51. At 11:26 George got his third goal with assists to Kyle Allard and DJ Labash. Evan Gizinski scored at 13:38 unassisted.  The Black Hawks came back at 13:42 with a goal from Dominic Cappello and as assist to Zack Raider.  Utica made it 7-4 at the 14:51 mark of the second with a goal from Jacob Maddox with assists to Alec George and DJ Labash.  The Black Hawks came back with one more goal in the third period.  The tally came from Bobby Moeller at 15:50. The effort was unassisted. The Black Hawks had a total of 27 shots on goal while Utica fired 25.
