Bloomfield Hills Rotary Hosts Conversation on Education
The Center for Michigan will lead a town hall conversation at the Bloomfield Township Senior Services Center Wednesday.
The Bloomfield Hills Rotary Club will host a community conversation on the future of education from 6-7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Bloomfield Township Senior Center.
The event is sponsored by the Center for Michigan, which has organized similar meetings throughout Metro Detroit this year, including events, in Rochester, Farmington Hills and Troy. A think-tank focused on helping citizens drive important changes in the state, the center is looking at education at a time when standards and financing are of major concern in Michigan.

The goal is to gather the perspectives and preferences of Michigan residents on major education policy initiatives and reform choices under consideration in the State Legislature. The center hopes to amplify of the voices of residents and press decision makers to follow citizen's recommendations on how to best improve students' prospects for the the future.
Patch has partnered with the center and many local community organizations and leaders in Patch towns throughout southeast Michigan. During these sessions, topics will range from teacher preparation to class sizes, and participants will have opportunities to offer their opinions.

"Our pledge is that you will learn something and that your voice will be heard," said CEO John Bebow, himself the father of a second-grader who attends a public school. "This isn't me sitting in my pajamas coming up with ideas. This is all about the people."
