Bloomfield Hills' Zambricki Earns All-America Honors

There was no 'sophomore slump' for Anna Zambricki.

The former Lahser High School soccer standout capped the 2012 season for Washington University by earning First-Team All America honors on Tuesday from 2012 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/Continental Tire Women's Soccer Division III.

The Bloomfield Hills native is just the ninth student athlete in school history to earn the designation, and the first since 2009, according to a news release.

“Anna Zambricki is an amazing athlete that creates opportunities for herself and her teammates all over the field,” said Washington University Head Coach Jim Conlon in a written statement. “As a student-athlete she excels on and off the field and makes the people around her better. It is her determination that truly drives her to be a special woman, friend and player.”

Zambricki led the University Athletic Association (UAA) in goals (14) and points (34), and was second in game-winning goals (six). She earned UAA Co-Most Valuable Player and first-team all-UAA honors by the conference. She also earned University Athletic Association Athlete of Week in October after scoring a hat trick at Carnegie Mellon University, and followed up with an assist in their next game, also a win at Webster University.

And she wasn't done. Among the season's highlights was another hat trick on  in a 3-0 win at Case Western Reserve University, the third of her career.

The impressive numbers couldn't be possible without consistency and determination. Zambricki has started 34 of her 36 career games, and already ranks sixth in school history in game-winning goals (10), seventh in goals overall (24) and ninth in points (58).

The No. 5 - ranked Bears finished the season 19-2-1, and advanced to the NCAA Division III Quarterfinals for the sixth time in school history. Along the way, the team went undefeated in UAA play and clinched the school's eighth league championship.

The NSCAA will recognize Zambricki next month at the All-America Luncheon during its national convention in Indianapolis.
