Bloomfield Runners Spend Their Sunday the Brooksie Way
Bloomfield Hills and Township residents were out en masse for the Brooksie Way half-marathon and 5K.
More than 60 Bloomfield Hills and Bloomfield Township residents were among the 4,237 finishers in today's fourth annual Brooksie Way Half-Marathon and 5k races, held today in Rochester.
The top local finisher in the half-marathon was William Thomson, 50, of Bloomfield Hills, who placed 25th overall and third in his age division. His time was 1 hour, 25 minutes, 9 seconds. Lorie Guthrie was the top female half-marathoner; the 46-year-old placed 36th in the women's division with a time of 1:40.08.
In the 5K race, Jeffrey Martin, 53, of Bloomfield Hills took first place overall, and 13-year-old Giovanna Leone finished first among the female racers, running in 27:10.
Proceeds from the race will fund mini-grants that support health and wellness programs in Oakland County. , son of county Executive L. Brooks Patterson, who died in a snowmobile accident in February of 2007.
