Death of Woman Mauled by Dogs Ruled Suicide
Two dogs — a pit bull and a pit bull-husky mix — mauled Port Huron woman who climbed fence to get into yard where they were penned.

OAKLAND COUNTY, MI - The Oakland County Medical Examiner’s office said Wednesday that a 22-year-old Port Huron woman who was mauled by dogs on Dec. 3 committed suicide.
Rebecca Hardy climbed over the fence and into a yard at 1721 Tenth St. where two dogs, a pit bull and a pit bull-husky mix, were penned.

A witness tried to stop the dogs from attacking Hardy, and their owner was eventually able to subdue them, the Free Press said. Both dogs were euthanized.
The incident remains under investigation, according to the report.

Hardy’s death came a day after a pack of pit bulls and pit bull mixes mauled and killed 4-year-old Xavier Strickland as he walked to his Detroit kindergarten with his mother. Geneke Antonia Lyons, 41, of Detroit, has been charged with second-degree murder and other charges in the boy’s death.
