Brother Rice High School Announces Its Next President

Thomas Reidy, who has led a co-educational Catholic high school in Florida, will replace John Birney.

BLOOMFIELD HILLS, MI – Thomas Reidy, the principal and headmaster at a Catholic school in Florida, will be the next president at Brother Rice High School. He will replace John Birney.

Reidy has been with Tampa Catholic for the last eight years, leading both the administrative and educational teams at the co-educational high school with 700 students. He previously served the school as a coach, teacher and administrator.

Tampa Catholic is a member of the family/Congregation of Christian Brother network schools, and is inspired by Blessed Edmund Rice.

There, Reidy oversaw all aspects of running a Catholic school, including Catholic identity, curriculum, budgeting and financial management, strategic planning, athletics, board development, advancement and fundraising, alumni relations and admissions management.

Reidy, the married father of three children, was a collegiate baseball player at Florida Southern College, where he captained the team. At FSC, he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business administration, and went on to attend National-Louis University and earn a master’s degree in education.

"Tom has an impressive record of success at Tampa Catholic which has prospered under his leadership.” Tom Chisholm, chairman of the Brother Rice High School Board of Directors, said in a statement. “He brings a strong background in education, steeped in the essential elements of a Christian Brother education, and outstanding management and leadership skills.
