Detroit Country Day School Announces New Member, Chair of the Board of Trustees

Detroit Country Day School (DCDS), an independent, non-denominational, college preparatory school, announced today that entrepreneur Ed Cherney has rejoined the DCDS Board of Trustees and global industrial leader Don Stebbins has been named the board’s chairman. DCDS Headmaster Glen Shilling made the announcement.

As a former Board of Trustee member from 1981-86 and 1987-2013 and parent to four alumni, Cherney has long been a valued member of the DCDS community. Cherney is a lifelong entrepreneurial executive who has built his career leading equipment leasing companies such as CMI Corporation, ENCORE, AT&T Systems Leasing and TIP Capital. A graduate of the University of Detroit, Cherney’s previous experience includes serving as chairman of the Computer Dealers and Lessors Association, member of the Equipment Leasing Association board, Trustee Emeritus of the University of Detroit-Mercy.

First elected to the DCDS Board of Trustees in 2006, Stebbins has held a variety of leadership roles growing, developing and restructuring multi-billion dollar global industrial companies. Currently he is president and chief executive officer of Superior Industries International, Inc. Stebbins earned his bachelor’s degree in finance from Miami University in Ohio and his Master’s of Business Administration degree from the University of Michigan. He and his wife Melissa are parents to one DCDS alumnus and two current DCDS students.
