'Downright Contempt' for Police: 2015 Bloomfield Twp. Annual Report
Police Chief Geof Gaudard wrote in report that police locally are noticing national trend for distrust of police officers.

BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP, MI – Lack of support and “downright contempt for police officers” were the biggest problems encountered by Bloomfield Township police in 2015, Police Chief Geof Gaudard wrote in a report reviewed recently by township trustees.
Upticks in certain types of crime — primarily fraud, identity theft and larcenies — in the 24,000 service calls answered by police in 2015, police officer Kelly Martin told trustees on May 9, according to a report in Downtown Publications.
Martin stood in for Gaudard at the meeting.

In his report, Gaudard wrote that local law enforcement officers are experiencing some of the same distrust of police seen nationally.

“Special interest groups and the media are quick to judge our actions and decision making without all the facts available or taking into account the split second decision making involved during often violent or extreme encounters,” the chief continued.
