Easter Week Gas Prices Could Top $2 in Michigan: Find Cheap Gas
Gas prices are expected to climb above $2 a gallon for the first time this year.

METRO DETROIT, MI – If you’re planning to travel for Good Friday and Easter, you may find gas prices inching up to above $2 per gallon.
Pump prices have been inching up for two straight weeks, and the national average price of regular gas may climb above $2 gallon for the first time this year, AAA said in its weekly Fuel Gauge Report released Monday.
In Michigan, prices declined slightly from an average of $2.01 Monday to an average of just over $1.99 Tuesday. They are on the rise though. A week ago, the statewide average was $1.96, compared with $1.71 a month ago and $2.43 a year ago.

In Metro Detroit, Tuesday prices were down a half cent from $1.98 Monday, a decline of a fraction of a cent from Sunday, and an increase of a fraction of a cent from a week ago. A month ago, prices averaged $1.70; a year ago, Metro Detroit residents paid an average of $2.42 a gallon.
Nationally, Monday’s high mark of $1.98 per gallon is the highest daily mark since January, and drivers are paying a nickel more per gallon than a week ago and 27 cents more than a month ago, but 44 cents per gallon cheaper than a year ago.

The auto club said the increases are due mainly to seasonal increases in fuel demand and reduced production as some refineries conduct maintenance.
