Gardening enthusiasts will want to attend this captivating lecture about how to make the difference between bloom and gloom in the garden, especially after the record breaking temperatures witnessed this summer.
The weather in recent years has presented a challenge to Michigan gardeners. Heat, wind, drought, early frost, unseasonably warm weather – Michigan has experienced it all. Gardeners need to learn how to cope with these challenges since forecasters predict that this trend will continue. In her lecture, Gardening in an Ever Changing Climate, Nancy Szerlag will present tools along with environmentally friendly techniques and strategies to help plants thrive in our constantly evolving climate.
Nancy Szerlag writes the weekly Gardening column in the Friday Homestyle section of The Detroit News, also delivered in The Detroit Free Press. Her bi-monthly column, Tools and Techniques, ran in Michigan Gardener for several years. Nancy also co-authored the two best-selling gardening books, Perennials for Michigan and Annuals for Michigan. She is a popular speaker and appears at garden centers and special events throughout Michigan.

'Lecture in the Library – Gardening in an Ever Changing Climate,' is the final program in the 2012 Cranbrook House and Gardens lecture series. The Cranbrook House library is located at 380 Lone Pine Road, in Bloomfield Hills. Cranbrook House and Gardens is the centerpiece of the National Historic Landmark campus of the renowned Cranbrook Educational Community. The mission of Cranbrook House and Gardens Auxiliary is the conservation, restoration and preservation of the founders’ home and gardens. Proceeds of the lecture benefit the Cranbrook House and Gardens Endowment Fund.
