Special community Board meeting on Unified Bloomfield Hills High School Design

Special community Board meeting on Unified High School Design on Tuesday, October 18 at 7 PM: After a year of thoughtful conversations with the BHS community, the Board of Education is holding a special meeting on Tuesday, October 18 at 7 PM for a public presentation of the proposed schematics developed by Fielding Nair International for a unified Bloomfield Hills High School. This is your opportunity to see how the firm heard what you had to say and integrated your feedback into the schematic for a unified high school that will provide an enhanced learning environment for 21st century education and the BHS comprehensive curriculum. The schematic also address providing state of the art co-curricular facilities to support excellence in programming, reduce costs for operations, staff and administration; and minimize disruption throughout the execution of the project.

The subject of updating BHS high schools has been a topic of passionate conversation since 2003. The current unified high school concept was accepted by the Board in 2008 as part of the district's 2018 strategic plan. The presentation on October 18 is a way for the Board to check in with the community to gauge your response to the schematic and determine next steps. The community meeting with the BHS Board will be held at the Doyle Center. In preparation for this and future meetings on this important topic, please visit the new "HS transition planning" quick link on the BHS website home page – you will find important documents posted to this site, which will be regularly updated.
