Vladimir (Scott MacDonald of Berkley) and Estragon (Paul Dorset of Birmingham) two lovable vagabonds, wait near a tree on a barren stretch of road, inhabiting a drama spun from their own consciousness. They comfort and irritate each other all day, every day, as they blather endlessly. With visits from Pozzo (Keith Lepard of Franklin) and Lucky (Andrew McMechan of Birmingham), and a message from the mysterious Godot, delivered by a Boy (Fiona McMechan of Birmingham), time passes. Then it is the next day and they continue to wait. The result is a comical wordplay of poetry, dreamscapes and nonsense, which has been interpreted as a somber summation of mankind’s inexhaustible search for meaning.
There is much for St. Dunstan audiences to be excited about with this production. It returns to the stage actors that have been absent far to long; Keith Lepard and Andrew McMechan; and Scott MacDonald and Paul Dorset take on the challenge of the waiting vagabonds. In addition the show will be performed in an intimate in the round setting.
Waiting for Godot will be presented by St. Dunstan's Theatre Guild of Cranbrook for four performances April 13, 14, 20 and 21 at 8pm.
Tickets are $12 general admission. Limited seating available.
