sees art as an essential element of a well rounded education. The offering of Fine and Performing Arts classes at Marian clearly reflects administrators desire to give students multiple options when they are interested in exploring an artistic medium. Their goal is to offer classes that allow students to try a class for a short-term or long-term basis depending on their level of interest.

Marian also makes sure that trying a new class works well with students’ packed schedules. Courses are schedules offered in traditional and emerging forms of drawing, painting, photography, pottery, music, drama, and vocal performance. More advanced classes encourage a deeper development of students skills as they move along the four year Fine and Performing Arts curriculum.

Current trends in technology are used to enhance each field of art study. Students get hands-on experience working with software to create 2D and 3D models of their artwork, infiltrating lifelong and practical graphic design concepts. Technology is essential to classes that are taught in photography, as students learn to master such programs as Photo Shop.

Music classes utilize the latest digital music software to teach students how to mix their own compositions blending harmony, melody, rhythm and form. Performing Arts courses cover every aspect of the theater from basic speech classes to directing and film editing.

The Arts are alive in the classrooms and auditorium of Marian High School. Frequent art exhibits, performance nights, and musicals keep the energy and enthusiasm for the arts program flowing throughout the school year.
