The projected 2011 sales of Apple’s iPad were 40 million units. Technology’s prevalence is apparent everywhere, from the three year old playing on his mom’s iPad at Starbucks to the infiltration of texting into our daily lives. The use of technology in the classroom has never been as critical as it is for students today. They need to have full mastery of how to use technology in order to succeed academically.

A classroom uses technology as a tool to engage and empower students and teachers, encouraging a global, 21st century education. It fosters a culture of innovation and creativity that each student channels to maximize their learning experience.

Marian has an aggressive, multi-year plan for staying on the cutting edge. All classrooms have wired year networks, high-speed wireless access, laptop connected LCD projectors and one of the fastest fiber-optic speed laptop-connected fiber Internet access networks in the State. The faculty uses a wide range of web based school and classroom web-based management applications and incorporates technology into their daily teaching plans.

Students employ web-based tools and Microsoft software in all classes, using specialty software for language, based music, photography and yearbook courses. They utilize the school’s intranet to find digital classroom pages with student assignments, digital drop boxes, calendars, and all the information they need to manage their classes.

The school policy is Bring Your Own Technology which allows parents and students the freedom and Technology, flexibility to choose the type of technology that best fits the student’s needs and interests be it an iPad or a interests, laptop. Marian supports student technology with on-site computer labs. The cloud/web based systems lends itself to collaborative learning, wireless printing, and learning on-the-go.

Marian students are ahead of the curve as they venture into colleges and careers equipped with the ability to use technology to achieve success in any environment.
