Free Back to School Rally event in Pontiac offers access to health screenings and school supplies Hosted by Pontiac Academy

WHAT

OLHSA Head Start and Pontiac Academy for Excellence (PAE) are helping kids get ready for the upcoming school year. Residents of Pontiac and surrounding communities are invited to attend a free Back to School Rally on Wednesday, August 12.

The event will feature free backpacks and school supplies (while supplies last), free hearing and vision screenings provided by Lions Club, low- or no-cost dental exams provided by Dentists R Us, free lunch and refreshments, and family fun including a bounce house.

On-site enrollment for OLHSA educational services and all PAE grade levels will be available at the event.

WHY

In order for students to learn and thrive their basic needs must first be met. By offering access to hearing, vision and dental professionals, OLHSA Head Start and PAE are helping see that students can begin the year healthy, happy, and ready to grow.

OLHSA Early Head Start and Head Start Preschool educate children ages birth to five years and support families, including pregnant women. These free, federally funded preschool programs have locations throughout Oakland County.

Pontiac Academy for Excellence is the only charter district in Pontiac to offer kindergarten through 12th grade. Sharing a campus with OLHSA Head Start means a seamless transition from preschool to kindergarten. This year all PAE kindergarten students will receive free school supplies and uniforms care of Winfire Management.
