‘Infuriated’ Mom ‘Drop Kicks’ Son’s Birthday Cake: Police
The unhappy customer claimed bakery employees ruined her 7-year-old's "Batman v. Superman" birthday cake.
Bloomfield Township, MI — What would Batman say, or Superman, for that matter?
Sure, they battled it out in “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice,” a movie with special significance in Metro Detroit, the location where most of the movie was shot, but they never took their frustrations out on the massive cake at Lex Luthor’s big soiree.
That’s something a Bloomfield Township woman, apparently unimpressed by the decorating superpowers on a “Batman v. Superman” cake she’d ordered for her son’s birthday, is accused of doing, according to a bizarre disorderly conduct complaint lodged with Bloomfield Township police Saturday.

Here’s how it all went down or, rather, how the cake allegedly went airborne, according to a police interview with the manager of the Kroger store at 4099 Telegraph Road:
Dissatisfied with the decorating job on the cake, the unhappy customer allegedly attempted to go behind the bakery counter and fix it herself. A bakery employee told her the area was off limits, and that’s when things got messy — very, very messy, according to the report.

“This infuriated the woman causing her to take the cake to the front of the counter and ‘drop kick’ it,” Bloomfield police Det. Sgt. John Weise said in a police report. “The action caused pieces of cake and frosting to be strewn about the bakery section of the store. The woman quickly left the store, kicking over a wet floor sign on her way out.”

Because the cake was a special order and the customer’s name and contact information were on file, police were able to quickly track her down.
The woman, who wasn’t identified in the report, denied she kicked the cake and said instead that it had accidentally slipped from her hands, Weise said.
A witness interviewed by police offered a slightly different version of events.
Weise said the witness told police the disgruntled woman didn’t actually kick the cake, rather she “threw the cake to the ground, stepped on it several times and yelled ‘they f***ing ruined my 7-year-old’s birthday cake’” before storming out of the store.
Kroger doesn’t have video of the incident, and the investigation is continuing, Weise said.
