She began to describe the scene that had unfolded inside the house. Her mother’s boyfriend, Dijan Lamar, 22, of Pontiac, allegedly fired a shot inside the residence in the North Hill Farms Apartments in the 40 block of Cherry Hill Drive.
The girl and her two brothers, ages 1 and 2, were alone in the apartment with Lamar, according to a statement from the sheriff’s office.

Police said that after one of the brothers saw a handgun on Lamar’s waistband and asked if it was real, he pulled it out and claimed it wasn’t real, then “racked the gun, loading a live round in the chamber and fired one round in the living rooms.”
Deputies who arrived at the apartment after the little girl’s 911 call weren’t able to locate the gun, which Lamar allegedly said he had thrown in a sewer, but they recovered bullet fragments and a spent shell casing.
None of the children was injured, but the case was referred to Michigan Child Protective Services for investigation. The children’s mother returned to the apartment while police were investigating, according to the report.
Lamar was arraigned Tuesday in 50th District Court, where he was charged with discharging a firearm in or at a building, a 10-year felony; carrying a concealed weapon a five-year felony; and possession of a firearm by a felon, also a five-year felony.
Judge Michael C. Martinez set bond at $50,000 cash/surety. Lamar’s next court date is 1:30 p.m. on Feb. 18, also before Martinez.
Lamar’s previous convictions include retail fraud in 2011 and possession of a controlled substance in 2014, the sheriff’s office said.
