Man Buys Bearded Dragon at Bloomfield Township Pet Store. From there, it just gets weird.
Police alerted to fraud by Texas man who reported suspicious activity on his credit card.
BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP, MI – Here's how it all went down at Pet Supplies Plus. Guy comes in to buy a bearded dragon. Another guy buys dog food and a gift card. Then, on Oct. 15, a store manager called police to report a call from a Texas resident about a suspicious purchase.
A Bloomfield Police report says the caller said someone used his credit card information at the pet store without his permission, and that he still has the card in his possession. Police say the credit card number was used by a customer who purchased a bag of dog food and a gift card at the store, 2057 Telegraph Road. The customer then attempted to purchase a second gift card using a different credit card, but the second transaction was declined and he left the store.
Three days later, police took another report from the store manager, who said a different customer had been at the store on Sept. 4 and purchased a juvenile bearded dragon and some supplies to care for the lizard. The total amount of the transaction was more than $270, and the charges were later determined to be fraudulent by the bank that issued the card.
