Man Who Test Drove Car, Never Returned It Tied to Similar Thefts

Bloomfield Township police said who gave a fictitious name and phony Illinois driver's license is also tied to thefts in Taylor and Westland

Bloomfield Township, MI — A man who passed himself off as an Illinois resident with a phony driver's license test drove a used car from a local dealership and never returned it, Bloomfield Township police said.

Police think he's the same person who failed to return automobiles in Taylor and Westland after taking them for a test drive, according to a news release.



The theft in Bloomfield Township occurred Friday, July 8, at the Page Honda dealership, 1819 Telegraph.

A spokesperson for the dealership told police that a black male in his 60s test drove the 2007 Dodge Magnum SRT, but didn't return it. The Magnum has tinted windows, yellow fog lights and a distinctive black grill.

Police said the suspect is bald; stands about 5 feet, 10 inches tall; and weighs about 190 pounds. He was wearing blue jeans and a red floral shirt at the time of the theft.
