McCready: New transparency initiative is good government

State Rep. Mike McCready supports the introduction of an 11-bill bipartisan initiative to increase the accountability of state government

State Rep. Mike McCready today supported the introduction of an 11-bill bipartisan initiative to increase the accountability of state government.

McCready, of Bloomfield Hills, joined his colleagues Wednesday in announcing the reform plan, which makes the governor and lieutenant governor subject to the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and creates a set of similar rules for state representatives and senators called the Legislative Open Records Act (LORA).

“Transparency plays a critical role in ensuring that elected officials are accountable to the people they serve,” McCready said. “This legislation gives people more access to information about how their government operates and where their tax dollars are being spent.”
