Michigan State Alums, They're Just Not That Into You

Analysis of data from the paid matchmaking service puts Michigan State alum in the cellar on the datability scale.

The worst thing about this may be that someone had to think it up, but it still leaves a mark:

TIME magazine says Michigan State University Spartan alumni living in Los Angeles and New York City just aren’t datable, that conclusion reached after analyzing data from The Dating Ring, a paid matchmaking service.

Michigan State alums ranked fifth from the bottom on the datability scale, above University of California-Santa Barbara graduates (the least datable), Princeton University, University of Pennsylvania, University of California-Berkeley and Binghamton (NY) University.

Over an 18-month period, The Dating Ring looked at 7,500 date feedback reports from 1,600 people over an 18-month period. The datability scores were determined by the number of people who said they would go on a second date.

Some perspective is in order. The U.S. Census Bureau says there are more than 4,400 degree-granting colleges and universities across the country, and The Dating Ring’s analysis covered on 316 of them.

Also, 81 percent of those surveyed lived in New York City, while 19 percent lived in San Francisco.

Patch’s unscientific conclusion is that if you’re at Michigan State grad living anywhere else in America, there’s nothing to suggest you’re not sizzling hot and datable.
