The start of the school year for Bloomfield area residents in the Pontiac Public School District is near and there are the key dates every parent should know.

Sept. 1: Building professional day, no students.

Nov. 4: End of first marking period for elementary and middle schools.

Nov. 16-17: Parent/teacher conferences for elementary, students half-day.

Feb. 1: District development day, no students.

Feb. 8: Second statewide count day.

Feb. 20-24: Mid-winter break, no students or teachers.

Feb. 27: Students return.

March

March 6-9: Michigan Merit Exams; MEAP testing for 11th grade. No school for 9th, 10th and non-testing 12th graders.

March 9: End of 4th marking period for high school.

March 20-22: Michigan Merit Exams make-up.

March 21: Parent/teacher conferences for high school.

March 30: End of 3rd marking period for elementary and middle schools. Teacher comp. day, half-day.

April

April 2-9: Spring break.

April 10: School resumes.

April 18-19: Parent/teacher conferences for elementary, students half-day.

April 19: Parent/teacher conferences for middle school, students half-day.

April 27: End of 5th marking period for high school.
