LADDER Training: Local Approach to Discussion-based Disaster Exercises and Readiness

SPONSORED BY MICHIGAN STATE UNIVERSITY EXTENSION

Natural and manmade disasters highlight how animal health and security impact human safety and critical infrastructure. Often, animals are excluded in community disaster plans and exercises. This workshop will inform stakeholders at every level, including emergency managers, health department professionals, veterinarians, government officials, first responders, animal control officers, and animal shelter staff and volunteers, how to forge innovative approaches to improve disaster preparedness for any community.

General Sessions: The Future of Pet Registration and Reunification, Unpacking Pet Food Myths & Nutrition Facts, Michigan's First Spay/Neuter License Plate

Breakout Tracks: 30 sessions to choose from throughout the two-day event. Five tracks are available, focusing on cats, dogs, operations, quality of life and community engagement

Beer & Biscuits Roundtables: Network and chat with topic experts. Each attendee receives two free drink tickets

Meals: Continental breakfast, boxed lunch and snacks provided on Friday and Saturday

Scholarships Available

A limited number of scholarships are available to cover a portion of the registration cost. Scholarships reduce the two-day conference registration fee to just $50 for MPA members and $85 for non-members. They are available based on financial hardship. Apply for a scholarship today!

Accommodations

The cost for travel and overnight accommodations is not included in the conference registration cost. Parking is free at the conference location, which is located near restaurants, shops and hotels.
