Still Time to Help During Adopt a Shelter Dog Month
October is almost over, but there's still time to rescue a dog from a shelter. Here's a list of places do do that in your area.

There are still a few days to do something good for your soul, and give a shelter dog a needed home. October is Adopt a Shelter Dog Month.
The ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Anima;s) estimates that about 7.6 million companion animals enter animal shelters nationwide every year. About 3.9 million are dogs.

“You’ll be saving a life and greatly improving yours,” the AHA said. “Dogs are amazing, supportive and heroic companions who can make a huge difference in your world as a best friend, an exercise buddy, someone who can be trained to provide animal-assisted therapy and help those with challenges they may face, or simply be a fuzzy face to greet you after a hard day at work.”
If you’re set on a specific breed, the AHA recommends going to a legitimate breed-specific rescue group looking to place dogs in permanent homes.
The Michigan Humane Society, which has pet adoption centers in Rochester Hills, Westland and Detroit, is a good place to start. It takes in more dogs than any other in the state, according to its website. Another good resource is the Michigan Animal Rescue League.
