
The Bloomfield Hills High School Black Hawks won the consolation game of the Annual Berkley Hockey Invitational on Thursday January 9, 2014 beating Port Huron by a score of 3-2. The game was played at the Berkley Ice Arena. The tournament was plagued with delays as a result of the weekend weather.
Port Huron opened the scoring early in the 1st period with a goal from Nick Pringle and an assist from Will Kriewall. The goal was scored at the 2:06 mark. The Black Hawks tied the game late in the first on a goal from Houston Peach and an assist to Zach Raider. Bloomfield’s tying goal came at 13:35 of the first.
The Black Hawks took the lead at 14:08 of the second period with a goal from Jordan Stone and an assist to Sasha Black. Port Huron then tied the game in the third with an unassisted goal from Nick Pringle, his second of the game at 7:17. Regulation time ended in a 2-2 tie. The game then went to a shoot-out and the Black Hawks scored twice while Port Huron scored once giving Bloomfield Hills the victory. Overtime goals were scored first by Johnny Artemenko, and the game winner was scored by Jordan Stone, his second tally of the game.

After the game Bloomfield Hills Head Coach Bruce McAlister said “it was great to see the boys stay strong and pick up the win in OT. We are a young team and this particular tournament means a lot.”
