Vandals Hit Bloomfield Township Construction Site Again

Police have taken three malicious destruction of property reports in two months at the same construction site.

BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP, MI — An intruder or intruders caused more than $5,000 damage to a home under construction in the 4500 block of Stony River overnight Aug. 31, the Bloomfield Township Police Department said in a news release.

The vandal or vandals punched holes in the drywall, broke windows, dumped liquids and sprayed foam on unfinished wood floors, and sprayed a fire extinguisher in a bedroom, police said.

Bloomfield police said this is the third incident of malicious destruction of property at the construction site in the past two months.

There were no witnesses to the most recent vandalism spree, but “neighbors have seen kids walking in the construction site in the past,” the police department said.

Police also took a vandalism report on Aug. 29 from the manager of the Bloomfield Swim and Tennis Club, 251 E Square Lake Road. She told officers that sometime during the night of Aug. 28-29, someone entered the exterior of the club and damaged a snack vending machine outside.

The glass to the machine was broken leaving a basketball-sized hole. It is unknown if anything was taken from the machine.
