Whiz Kid: Acting Bug Bit This Brother Rice Performer Young

Each week, Bloomfield Patch features students doing amazing things in their schools and in their communities. This week's Whiz Kid has a passion for the performing arts and is making a name for himself on film, television and center stage.

Alexander Borrello

Age: 16

School: Brother Rice High School

• Achievement: Borrello just completed a run as Charlie in of the revised Broadway version of You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown with the Marian-Rice Players. He's also featured in the horror/comedy film Deadheads, created by Royal Oak natives Brett and Drew Pierce, which is showing at 7 p.m. tonight at Royal Oak's .
• Key to Awesomeness: The Novi resident started performing at age 7 and has been in more than 30 theater productions, several films and commercials. He's taking acting lessons, trains weekly with a vocal coach and continues to search for colleges with performing arts programs that he wants to visit, said his mom, Christine Borrello.

Though he didn't start performing in any official capacity until a few years later, Alexander first took the stage at age three when he sauntered up to the performers at the Marquis Theatre in Northville.

"He said he wanted to get on stage and do what the other kids were doing," she explained. "He has never changed his mind."

Alexander said it's just part of who he is. "I love to entertain others and put on a good show that will make someone happy," he said. "I feel like I accomplished that if someone sincerely tells me they enjoyed the show."
