1 Killed In Wrong-Way Crash On US-23 In Southeast MI: Police

It was unclear if drugs and alcohol played a role in the crash.

NORTHFIELD TOWNSHIP, MI — A man was killed in a wrong-way crash Sunday on US-23 in Northfield Township, according to Michigan State Police.

The crash happened at 6:15 a.m. Sunday US-23 near Territorial Road in Northfield Township, according to police.

The 58-year-old Brighton man was driving a 1993 Jeep Cherokee south in the northbound lanes on the highway when he smashed into a 2009 Chevy Silverado pickup truck, according to police.

Both drivers were taken to a nearby hospital where the Brighton man died, according to police.

The driver of the Chevy, a 26-year-old Montrose man, suffered minor injuries in the crash, according to police.

Police do not know why the man was driving the wrong way on the highway. They are still trying to determine if drugs and alcohol played a role in the crash.
