On April 13, St. Mary School in Pinckney showed off the glitz and glamour of the Las Vegas strip as the school held its 16th annual school auction, a community-wide event under the theme “Viva Las Vegas”.
More than 300 Pinckney-area residents enjoyed a night out, good food, entertainment, and a live auction that featured trips to warm-weather resorts, a VIP Bon Jovi concert experience, an African safari, and a guitar autographed by music legends B.B. King, Eric Clapton, Carlos Santana, and Jeff Beck. And yes, Elvis was in the building (at least, an impersonator).
Proceeds from the auction will benefit St. Mary School and will fund the school’s Rick Dible Scholarship, which provides need-based tuition assistance. Some of the auction money will be used to purchase additional stage risers for school performances.

An event of this magnitude requires a lot of help, said parent organizer Linda Schneider. “The whole St. Mary community rallied around this event--parents, teachers, staff, and parishioners, people who donated thousands of volunteer hours to make this auction a success. I am so grateful to all of our tireless volunteers.”

“Every year I go home wondering how the auction team will top that year’s auction,” observed Principal Veronica Kinsey. “But they always do. I appreciate the volunteers for their monumental efforts, and wonderful sponsors that support our auction every year.”
