The Greater Brighton Chamber of Commerce and LACASA’s CAP (Child Abuse Prevention) Council of Livingston County jointly awarded the 2013 Family Friendly Award to Work Skills Corporation in recognition for outstanding support of employees and their families.
Many qualities and practices contributed to WSC earning this honored award including their use of technology advancements to optimize flexibility to employees, allowing them to be productive while away from the office. They encourage employee feedback and are always seeking creative alternatives to implement flexibility for all employees, creating a healthy, happy workforce. Work Skills Corporation also has many programs for their employees to take advantage of including daycare reimbursement, health care reimbursement, leaves of absence, flexible vacations, and the ability to borrow and carry over vacation time. These benefits are well received by employees and their families.
Work Skills Corporation has been providing employment and training services to people with barriers to employment for over 40 years. In addition to their core business offerings, their most recent venture is Studio West, “The Home of Art with a Heart”. To help WSC employees become more involved with the community, they offer employee discounts for the many retail items sold at the studio as well as discounts to the various community classes and events hosted there. WSC has also sponsored several Paint and Pour team building events for their employees.
