BHS bond to make great changes this summer

Several changes to Brighton High School are on the horizon.

Brighton Area Schools have been under construction with the money from the bond since 2010. There have been many improvements to all the schools in the Brighton School district. There are some big projects planned for the high school in the summer. The pool will be finished up this October, costing 5 million dollars, and all of the parking lots will be completely redone. Also, the front of the school will have a new design. The mechanics, such as the heating and cooling, in the school and the wifi will also be improved. When the new pool is finished, the old pool will be drained and turned into a two story weight room. The weight room should be done around April.

Beginning in a few short days this spring, the Brighton High School parking lot A’s construction will start. This being the first parking lot to start redoing, they plan on continuing the construction all summer long with all the other parking lots also. Not only redoing them and making them smoother to drive on, but the parking lots will be completely redesigned. Coming back this fall, will surely be a change for Brighton High School’s driving students.

Junior Ellen Bartush has a strong opinion about the parking lots, and she cannot wait for the bond to fix them.

“It is about time they redo our parking lots, they are awful!! This is probably going to be my favorite update Brighton High school will receive with the bond,” Bartush said.

Another thing changing in the school is that each hallway will have different colored lockers. They will be painted black, white, or orange.

Principal Gavin Johnson and the rest of the staff are very excited about these upcoming changes of Brighton High School.

“I can’t wait for the lockers to be painted it will make the school look much more spirited,” Johnson said.
