Book Group and Genealogy Programs at the Library

The invites the public to join the May Book Discussion Group or to discover Genealogy: Exploring familysearch.org Monday, May 17 at 7 p.m. at BDL.

Book Discussion Group

The public is invited to attend the library’s book discussion of Three Day Road by Joseph Boyden at 7 p.m. Monday.

The story highlights Niska, an Oji-Cree medicine woman who has left her home to retrieve Xavier Bird, her only relative, who has returned from the trenches of Europe. Gravely wounded and addicted to morphine, Xavier tells how he and his best friend prowled the battlefields as snipers and how their deadly craft led them to different fates.

The Brighton District Library Book Discussion Group meets at 7 p.m. the third Monday of each month between September and May. The group is led by a library staff member and welcomes everyone.

Genealogy: Exploring familysearch.org

Karen Trzcinaki, genealogy specialist at BDL, will highlight and review the newly redesigned familysearch.org website 7– 8:30 p.m. Monday.

FamilySearch has been gathering, preserving, and sharing genealogical records for more than 100 years and is the largest genealogy organization in the world. Join Karen as she shows participants how to utilize this website to its full potential.
