On October 15 our BHS Senior and Junior girls were fighting for a cause. The annual BHS Powderpuff football game conquered the football field. Both teams showed their class spirit as 129 upperclassmen girls signed up to play with their peers to raise money for the Senior Banquet and breast cancer research.

“It’s a lot more fun to be the coach, I’m just excited to take part in the game,” Junior Head Coach, Jacob Pardonnet said.

The juniors are just taking part in this action for the first time this year as many of the seniors played in last years game.

“We have experience and we are practicing hard and if we do what we do, play like we play and execute we are going to win. I’m just blessed to coach the senior girls and we have a great class and the will to win,” Senior Head Coach Chase Browning said.

Senior player, Andrea Lussier, is really excited to be playing with all of her friends. “We are all just one big happy family, we just love each other.” Being one big happy family certainly helped the Senior girls to a 12-14 win over the Juniors.

The Seniors were ecstatic after winning a close drama filled match with a little bit of everything. Including some last play dramatics. The seniors jumped out to an early lead, scoring very quickly in the first quarter but missed the extra point taking an early lead 6-0. After holding the Junior girls to a four and out, the Seniors scored quickly and converted on the two point conversion to take a 14-0 lead.

The Seniors held this lead until the fourth quarter where the juniors scored with eight minutes left to go. The Juniors could not convert on the extra points as the they made it a game down only 14-6. After a couple of Senior and Junior punts the seniors started to put together a drive and it looked like they were going to seal the game up after a 15 yard penalty by the Juniors. The Juniors pulled it together and stopped the Seniors with 30 seconds left. They got the ball back and couldn’t move it effectively. Then the Junior Head Coach Jacob Pardonnet called timeout with 4 seconds to set up his last play.

What a play it was a hook’n’ladder that went the length of the field for a touchdown leaving the Juniors two points away. After a well-deserved celebration the Juniors lined up to tie the game and they ran it up the middle as it was stopped by the Seniors to win the Game 14-12.

The powder puff game was a huge success as there was a big turnout and the game did not disappoint. There was a lot of money raised and the girls and the fans had a lot of fun.
