Trail Running

The calm after the storm

As you probably remember monday was an unusually windy and very gusty day. It was actually a dangerous day to venture into the woods for a good run.

Come tuesday morning though as I looked out the window and saw the first rays of what proved to be a beautiful sunrise, I thought breakfast can wait, I grabbed the dog, a cup of coffee, some water, and we were off to Brighton Rec to enjoy the begginings of the day out on the blue hiking trail doing what we love, running in the woods.

As we settled into our run, or more acuretley after he tires of marking every tree, bush, stick, leaf, shado, and anything else he spots, gotta love male dogs. I noticed not an erie silence in the woods on this morning, but a sense of relief. It seemed as if I could feel the anxiety and fear from all the living things being lifted as the sun grew higher. It was definetly one of those rare, special moments in life that I have only experienced while trail running.
