Brighton High School continues updates
Brighton High continues updates with new 14,000 sq. foot strength and conditioning gym.

On May 1, 2016, Brighton High school will have a State of the Art Gym. The new strength and conditioning gym will be comparable to a Division 1 College gym. The gym is 14,000 square foot. Athletic Director John Thompson said it will be very similar to the MSU strength and conditioning gym. Brighton is making efforts to redesign and replicate the MSU gym into Brighton’s own personal gym at their fingertips.
The gym will contain all new equipment. It will vary from cardio to dumb bells to heavy weight machines. The gym will be open to the community; however, the decision of the community members paying has not been decided yet.
The hours of the gym will vary. The hours will be very similar how the new pool is ran. It will be open and available when school events, activities, or classes are not present.

“The most important aspect to the gym is that it will be staffed by professionals,” Thompson said.
This will provide Brighton High with an advantage because it will take the all the athletics to a whole another level. No other high school in the Brighton community has or will have a strength and conditioning gym anywhere close to Brighton’s.

“This will not be a spa type of atmosphere,” Thompson said.
The sports teams will be pushed by the professionals to go to the next level. Many students at Brighton are very excited about this, including Steven Hall.
“Even though I will not be able to use the gym for that long, but the time I’m here I will definitely take advantage of the gym,” Hall said.
He’s not the only one that said this. Some of the college commits at our school, will be in the gym getting ready for their upcoming seasons.
“This is a great way to use the bond for the Brighton area schools and are very excited about the new gym,” Vivian Charlick said.
“As a member of the community, I feel like this new state of the art gym will not only help the athletic teams at Brighton succeed but it will also provide the community with a very convenient and breathtaking equipment at their fingertips,” said Dr. Mark Charlick.
