Brighton High seniors take their final lap

Brighton High School's seniors attend the annual Senior Walk and picnic.

The seniors came into Brighton High for their last time on Thursday, May 28. The seniors came in around 10 o’clock to pick up their cap and gown. They wore it for the first time while the whole school lined up and down the halls to watch the seniors make a senior lap. Parents were welcomed to watch their kids walk or anyone else in the community that wanted to watch.

The underclassmen and the rest of the school had to switch up their schedule to make room for the senior walk and the senior picnic after so the lunches were an hour behind and 5th hour was in front of 4th as to not impact lunches.

”It was fun to see everyone lined up to watch us walk and to get our cap and gown,” senior Zach Vituske said.

After the walk they gathered for the senior picnic. This takes place outside the gym after the senior walk. This gathering is the last event the class of 2015 will ever attend at Brighton High School and a very emotional moment in these students’ lives and all the administrators’ lives as well.

“I’ve dreaded this part of high school since freshman year and it’s going to be sad when I’m handed that diploma because I’m not going to see a lot of these wonderful people ever again. It’s very sad cause I really like my whole class,” senior Eric Hackett said.

The picnic had hot dogs, brats, and desserts made by the staff. Dr. Greg Gray, principals Gavin Johnson, Henry Vecchioni, and John Thompson helped man the grill, along with help from counselors Jeff Miner and Jennifer Spryss-Tellner, Head of Cafeteria Richard Browder, and secretary Cindy Stafford.

“I’m actually very happy to be done with high school but it’s kind of sad that it went by so fast. I remember being just a little annoying freshman like it was yesterday,” senior Jake Price said.
