DCDS Seniors Make Official College Athletic Commitments

Six student athletes, including football standout Justin Hunter, announce intentions as part of National Signing Day.

Six Detroit Country Day School seniors, including football standout Justin Hunter, have signed college commitments to play a variety of sports at colleges and universities throughout the country. DCDS Executive Director of Athletics Dan MacLean made the announcement.

Rochester Hills resident Hunter, an offensive tackle, will head to Harvard, where he will join the Harvard Crimson football program at the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision. Nick Martin of Birmingham will play lacrosse at Syracuse University, Devon Callaghan of Beverly Hills will play lacrosse at University of Detroit Mercy, Meaghan Faucher of Brighton will join the rowing/crew team at Michigan State University, Jenna Staudt of Bingham Farms will play soccer at Georgetown University and Taylor Alexander of Farmington Hills will play volleyball at the University of Maryland.

“We could not be more proud of our senior students and their outstanding athletic accomplishments,” said MacLean. “At DCDS, our focus is to prepare students for success in all facets of life, and we believe that encouraging good sportsmanship, physical fitness and healthy competition are an important part of their future. Our coaches, teachers, mentors and parents all support our student athletes in their goals.”
