An array of materials and methods make the art of collage the ideal medium to explore the vast lanscape of the unconscious mind. Through a myriad of materials and techniques we can aim to develop our own personal artistic voice. We will be combining found imagery and objects with personal artifacts and numerous artistic media to create a powerful composition. This course will explore the use of photography, printmaking, mix media techniques, drawing and painting. Each student will recieve personal attention and experiement with numerous papers, fabrics, found elements and chemical processes to step out of the box of current collage trends to develop new and inventive ways of working.
Alicia Collins utilizes materials of all shapes, sizes, colors, and textures to create unique, photography-based artwork. She has taught art for a number of years for schools and art centers, including: the Denver Cultural Center, Denver Jewish Day School, Denver Foundation for the Arts, Lakewood Cultural Center, and Akiva Hebrew Day School of Detroit.
