Communication problems are common in dementia care. This workshop will discuss some of the changes in communication that occur as a result of dementia and possible communication strategies.
The following topics will be addressed:
- Understand how communication changes in dementia;
- Set up successful conversations;
- Respond to inappropriate verbal and physical communications;
- Strategies to support a person in distress; and
- How to give bad news.
