Ecological Restoration Volunteer Workday

Join the Metroparks in lending nature a helping hand! Volunteers can register to collect native prairie grass seeds from the Goose Pasture at Kensington Metropark. Today, only about 1% of original North American prairie remains. The loss of this habitat threatens the existence of many prairie plants and animals. Help the Metroparks collect seeds to be used in future prairie restoration projects.  We’ll be meeting in the Nature Center parking lot at 3:00pm – look for the white Metroparks truck. We’ll wrap things up by 5:00 pm.

Volunteers are encouraged to wear long pants and closed toe shoes and to always dress for the weather. The Metroparks will supply water– but it is always advised to bring your own supply. All necessary gloves and tools will be provided.

If you are interested in volunteering, please pre-register by contacting Allison Esper, Natural Resources Volunteer Coordinator, allison.esper@metroparks.com, 810-227-2757 x6086.

Deadline for registration is Wednesday, October 16th.
