Brighton's 5th Annual Hungry Duck Run starts bright and early with the 7 a.m. half marathon and a 5K run/walk at 7:15 a.m. on Saint Paul Street just east of West Grand River Avenue.
It’s a varied course starting in downtown Brighton and continuing into local scenic areas and returning downtown for the finish line. The course is mostly paved with portions on hard-pack dirt roads; it’s also mostly flat with a few modest hills to add a little challenge. The majority of the course is shaded.
(The half-marathon course closes at 9:45 a.m.)

The fun continues with the Duckling Dash race for children 10 and younger at 9:30 a.m. on Main Street by the Millpond.
Late entry fee for the half-marathon (after June 28) is $50. June 28 and before it’s $40. For the 5K race, the early fee (June 28 or before) is $25; after June 28, it’s $30.

Pre-registration takes place online through June 28; mail-in (must be postmarked by June 28); you also may register in person during packet pickup.
Packet pickup (pre-race) is available July 1 from 3-7 p.m., July 2 from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and July 3 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at Runnin’ Gear, 9937 E. Grand River Ave. in Brighton. The phone number is 810-844-0180. On race day, you may pick up your packets from 5:30-6:30 p.m. in the start-finish area. Again, you must be in line before 6:30 a.m.

Included with registration are: a timing chip, commemorative gender-specific T-shirt, huge post-race food spread, goodie bag and entry in Rotary’s Duck Race Raffle (a $5 value). Shirts are not guaranteed for late entries; late entries also will not receive Duck Race Raffle Ticket.
Awards (based on chip time) include: the top men and women overall and masters; three deep (men and women) in all five-year age categories! (Note that a $30 fee will be charged for timing chips not returned.)
Parking is available at Brighton High School with free shuttle service provided by the race staff. It is highly recommended t0 park at the high school.!
Other events of the day include Brighton’s Independence Day parade, which starts at 10 a.m. immediately followed by the Livingston Sunrise Rotary Club’s Duck Race raffle.
Why will this year’s race be awesome? Form-fitting women’s Tech shirts; Chip timing; sports drinks on the course and more food at the finish, the Duckling Dash kids’ run, a qualifying race for Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness Mackinac Bridge Run and the return of Waddlesworth the Duck!
