Brighton District Library is pleased to invite the public to its annual Holiday Open House from 1-5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10. Patrons, families and friends of all ages will enjoy an afternoon of free holiday entertainment.
From 1-5 p.m., stop by the youth department where children can visit with Santa. Remember to bring your camera. Holiday stories will be read and crafts will be available for children to make and take home.
Beginning at 1 p.m., and back by popular demand, is a performance by the Echoes of Praise Hand Bell Choir from Brighton’s First United Methodist Church. Hear holiday bell music performed by the choir followed by audience participation from the children.

Special to this year’s open house is holiday caroling from 1:30-3 p.m., performed throughout the library by the Original Dickens Carolers. Wearing elegant 1840s dress, the a capella group has performed for numerous public events throughout the West Michigan area.
Located outside the front door entrance, from 2-3 p.m., families will have an opportunity to see one of Santa’s reindeer. Parents can capture a special photo while kids pet this magical animal.

Harpist Diane Dunn will help create an enchanting mood during the event with beautiful harp music performed from 3-4:30 p.m. Ms. Dunn, in addition to being a renowned Harpist, is also a children’s picture book author. Her books The Adventure of a Harp Mouse, The Harp Mouse Chooses Her Home: The Adventure Begins and Harp Mouse Adventures Book II. These delightful stories are about an adventurous little mouse that has musical talents of its own and wants to share them.
Throughout the festivities, families are invited to enjoy refreshments provided by the Friends of the Brighton District Library.
