SELCRA Boys 1st-2nd Grade Basketball Leagues

Sports help children develop a sense of achievement, which helps develop a positive self-image. Develop your basketball skills and have some fun with our boys first/second-grade basketball league. The emphasis of this league is to introduce your youngster to the teamwork aspect of basketball and develop fundamentals of the game with a one-hour practice before the game. Then apply these skills at a game – such as scrimmage monitored by a court supervisor on Saturdays for six weeks.

  • Practices: Will take place on Saturdays prior to game.
  • Games: Teams will play six games, all on Saturdays. Scores and standings are not kept, and trophies are not distributed for these leagues. Games will begin Feb. 5 through March 19.
  • Team rosters: Players will be placed randomly by a computer-generated program based on grades and then birthdates. The only requests that can be made are carpooling where both parents make the same request; otherwise, it will not be granted.
  • Uniforms: The black and white SELCRA reversible jersey is required for participation. Please come to the SELCRA office to purchase the jersey for $15.
  • Additional information: Baskets are lowered to 8 ½ feet for this league. Returning participants may use last season's jersey. Parent volunteer coaches are needed!
