An evening featuring metro-Detroit’s finest blues musicians!

2 Stones Events and the Brighton Center for the Performing Arts have teamed up to present the Brighton Blues Bash! 2 — presented by Cooper &amp; Binkley Jewelers.

At 5:30, the great Etta James is paid tribute by an all-star cast of 12 of Detroit's finest blues musicians: The Woodward Horns (Bobby Streng, Jimmy Smith, Matt Martinez, and James Hughes); bassist David Uricek; drummer Rennell Gonsalves; keyboardist Mark Thibodeaux; guitarists Johnny Rhoades and Kris Kurzawa; and vocalists Tosha Owens, Raye Williams, and Lenny Watkins.

Kicking off the evening at 4 p.m. — A tribute to the late Johnnie Bassett, Detroit’s Gentleman of the Blues, with The Brothers Groove (Chris Codish, keys; Skeeto Valdez, drums; and James Simonson, bass) joined by Brett Lucas, guitar; and Keith Kaminski, saxophone. Tickets are $30 before Sept. 13. Price will increase to $40 day-of at the door.

The doors for this special Sunday show at the BCPA will open at 3 p.m. The evening will top off a full weekend of blues music with the Brighton Smokin Rock-N-Blues Festival on Sept. 11-12.

Cleary University

Cleary University will serve as the host site for the Livingston County College Fair Thursday, Sept. 24 from 6 pm to 8 pm in Cleary Commons, located at 3750 Cleary Drive (off Grand River Avenue west of Latson Road in Howell). This is an opportunity to meet representatives from more than 50 colleges and universities – all in one location! Students can talk one-on-one with each school and learn about academic offerings, financial aid, scholarships, career prospects, student clubs and organizations, athletics, campus life and much more. Military recruiters also will be on site.&nbsp;The event is free and open to the entire community. BCPA Tech Club Fundraiser
Doors to the lobby open at 3:00pm. Come mingle and support concession sales that will serve as a fundraiser that supports training and scholarship opportunities for the BCPA's student theater Tech Club.&nbsp;

Behind every great show at the Brighton Center for the Performing Arts is a team making the magic happen! The BCPA Student Tech Club is where students learn the ins and outs of stagecraft, from mastering the light board and perfectly balancing sound to managing backstage cues.
