Imagination Station Assessment Will Take Place Next Week

The Imagination Station's fate will be decided next week.

A group of volunteers will lead an assessment of the park sometime next week to determine what steps need to be taken to repair and restore the park, which has been the

"(The assessment will decide) what needs to be done now, what could be done next year, how much it's all going to be," City Council member Claudia Roblee said, who is part of the group. "We now have a plan."

The assessment is to be led by Piet Lindhout from Lindhout Associates, Brighton resident Todd O'Grady and a few others, Roblee said.

Volunteers from the group have already said that if repairs for the playground are too costly, an option to rebuild the park could be considered.

Once a decision is made from the assessment, a website is supposed to go online to help coordinate volunteers and donations, Brighton resident Renee Pettengill said. Roblee said the most immediate repairs could come by the second week of August.

Roblee said that if the project becomes larger than a few minor repairs, there will be an opportunity for residents to take part in that process.

The volunteer group, made up of city officials, business owners and residents met this morning at Department of Public Services to discuss these plans.
