Walk through the door of her new shop, which opened in December in the Kroger center on Grand River Ave., and you'll find warm tables and bookshelves full of wine glasses and Casafina dishware, as well as cards, candles and handmade jewelry for sale.
Proceed to the counter and be drawn into the display of made-from-scratch cookies, brownies and sweets. Cookie varieties include white chocolate cherry, peanuttery buttery and perfect chocolate chip ($20-$22 per dozen).

“Our most popular items are the cookies in the gift box,” McKay said.
Custom desserts can be ordered for weddings, showers, or corporate gifts.
McKay, an interior designer, handled the layout and design of her store, giving it a European boutique atmosphere. Originally, she began selling her gourmet cookies online to mostly corporate customers nationwide, but wanted to branch out to a physical storefront.
In the spring, McKay plans to introduce a selection of coffees for patrons to enjoy as they sample her gourmet creations and browse the shelves.
For Valentine’s Day, check out the gift box filled with cookies and a personalized heart for $23. And look for McKay's finds from the Chicago Merchandise Mart this spring.
